Home remedies for puffy eyes

Medical students have puffy eyes. Lack of sleep and stress-induced insomnia contribute greatly to our puffy eyes. Here are some home remedies I would like to share to help reduce puffiness beneath tired eyes. Besides doing a great job of reducing eye swelling, some of the fruits naturally contain active components, which is found in many expensive facial creams, but you can get the benefits without the expense by using this home remedies for reducing under eye puffiness. Of course, you could get one of those expensive eye creams if you could afford one.

Cool Cucumber

This is an age old and very popular home remedy. Cut cold cucumbers into thick slices. Find a place to relax, put your head back, and unwind with a slice over each eye for about ten minutes, or until the cucumber becomes warm.

Sizzling strawberries

Remove the tops from large, fresh, refrigerated strawberries, and slice them about 1/8 of an inch thick. Place the cold strawberry slices under your eyes, and allow them to remain there for several minutes. After removing the strawberries, wash and moisturise your face as usual.

Tea bag and olive oil

Simply place wet tea bags in the freezer to chill, and while the tea bags are chilling, apply olive oil to your eyelids with cotton balls. After the tea bags are sufficiently chilled, remove them from the freezer and place the tea bags on your eyelids. After about ten minutes, remove the tea bags and wash, dry, and moisturise your face as usual.

Got milk?

If you're looking exceptionally tired these days, try a milk treatment that will soothe and relax your eyes. Pour ice cold milk into a shallow bowl and toss in a couple of large cotton balls. Place a towel beneath your head, and with eyes tightly closed, place milk-soaked cotton balls over your eyes. After ten or 15 minutes, wash, dry, and moisturise your face as usual.

We're always tempted to buy them gel pads for the eyes, either from Body Shop or Watsons. Only the price stops us!

I've tried cucumber and tea bag (but not together with the olive oil though, first time hearing this). Don't think it worked.

Whose dog is that??

[Paul Figaro] Doggie needed some eye treatment! ;p

[Dummy] Is your dark circle genetic? Maybe other methods will work better.

[rotiboy] Botox or eye-lift surgery? Or just keep them like George Clooney, Sexiest Man Alive 1997 and 2006. ;p

[Medie007] Not much we can do about the schedule of a medical student. :(

[William] More cucumber for the left eye! ;)

[Antinous] Sleep works miracles, now to find time for it. ;)

[Ultraman Jino] Yes, and arts students too (in case they complain we leave them out).

[L²] Milk and cotton balls for posh L²!

[Johnny] What special fluid??? You notti!

[Janvier] They're nice to have but not very effective.

[Jaded Jeremy] Someone's doggie with no eye bags. ;p

[nicky05] Oysters, dark chocolate, tomatoes and strawberries! The strawberry method is going to give you horny eyes! ;p
