Season's Change

I watched a delightful Thai movie, Season's Change, released in 2006. The movie turned out to be sweet, fresh and heartwarmingly enjoyable. Besides eye candies in the form of the lead actors, we get to see the tranquil and verdant scenery of Bangkok's bucholic suburb.

This coming-of-age tale tells a story about a young high school boy named Pom (Vittavat Singlumpong) and his journey of self-discovery through his choices between Dao (Yuwanat Arayanimisakul), his crush, and Aom (Chutima Teepanat), his best friend, and between rock ‘n’ roll, in which he has a bright future, and classical music, in which he pursues just to be near his object of affection.

Pom enrolls in a music school, unbeknownst to his parents (they think he is doing pre-med), because of a girl he has secretly liked for three years, Dao (besides his aim of becoming a musician). Pom's parents had high hopes for him to be a medical doctor despite the fact that his interest lies more towards music. At the music school, he befriends Aom, who eventually becomes his best friend at the academy. Pom is a gifted drummer, Dao executes the violin in deadly precision and Aom has an inborn skill of playing out of tune (but she excels in music composition).

It is a simple movie that narrates a story of human relationships injected with humour and youthful sprightliness. Good way to spend a lazy weekend afternoon.
